Do Hindus Respect the Quran
:::note[Description]
Question:
Do Hindus respect the Quran? - An exploration of Hindu views on the Quran and whether respect is given to Islamic scripture. :::
Answer:
As many have answered this question I could find a common trend in major reasons or justifications provided for not respecting Quran which i would like to analyse through my post.
“………If Quran is this perfect, why is it so easily misinterpreted? ……Violence happens all over the world based on this book..”
Quran has to be read and understood as per the teachings of prophet PBUH (and as was understood by the noble companions of prophet PBUH); It is easily misinterpreted because people don’t follow this simple approach of sticking to the explanation of prophet and understanding of his noble companions. People who commit violence use different excuses to do so, in some cases it may be this book…in some cases it maybe something else; however whatever justification or excuse terrorists or criminals use cant be used as an argument; US Dropped atomic weapon on Japan was it because of this book ? Hitler killed 6 mn jews was it due to this book ? Ashoka killed 200000+ in kalinga was it die to this book ? 1984 sikhs were massacred & in 2002 in gujarat genocide thousands of muslims were murdered. Which book was behind these killings ? Do you think that only the terrorists and extremists who form negligible percentage of world Muslim population understand Quran whereas all the scholars and intellectuals of Islam and vast majority of moderate muslims don’t. “……….. It was the forceful devotion. A Muslim scholar is teaching a 12 year old kid to hate other religions based on a book. …….”
For a child many things are forced; if your child doesn’t study for exams you force him to, if he doesn’t eat you force him to eat and you are talking about similar force in matters of religion. you should realize that for Muslims success in afterlife is much more important than worldly success . Islam is against polytheism that is associating partners with god and all Muslims should hate any such action which according to their religious book is hated or disliked by god almighty. So purpose is not to hate other religions but to hate actions which are being done which goes against our religion. Also Islam asks Muslims to treat even their enemies with justice and fairness. So hating actions which go against our religion is different from hating religion or individuals or group of people. “…..But telling an adult what to do, what to eat, what to wear and what not to sounds extreme to me….”
See any recommendation or suggestion can be taken both positively or negatively. Many things seem natural to some people while the same thing may not be as obvious to others; the purpose of a religious book if it is from god almighty will fail if it does not cater to the lowest denominator. People are running nowadays to nutritionists to advise them what to eat. Islam is not a book of science or medicine but it does mention moderation in eating and drinking which every good doctor advises, it mentions abstaining from things which are harmful, eating things which god has made lawful and earning wealth which is halaal i.e through hard work and honesty. These instructions are simple but as adults how many have been able to follow it ? It is beneficial for us to obey gods command, if we don’t then it is not going to affect him in any way, this is basic principle when you use to understand concept of religious books. “…He told me why I should convert to Islam. Though seeing the freedom that his 6 year old girl got I decided I would never do that. ….”
You take a 6 year old kid and show him two kids , one growing to school and taking time to study and complete his homework and other who is not going to school and spending the day playing and wandering around, many kids will chose the later option. So if you think from mind of child then you will come to childish conclusions.
