Was Prophet Muhammad Mentioned in Earlier Scriptures

:::note[Description]

Question:

How authentic is the Muslim claim that Prophet Muhammad’s arrival was foretold in earlier scriptures? - Examining the Muslim claim that the coming of Prophet Muhammad was foretold in previous scriptures such as the Torah and Bible, and assessing historical interpretations. :::

Answer:

Your question consists of 2 parts:

  1. Claim that Prophet Mohammad was mentioned in all other scriptures & take this “evidence” as good enough to prove that Islam is the only true religion.

As per Islam the only thing which can be said with certainty with respect to religion is what was revealed through the noble Quran and what is present in terms of authentic Sunnah of the prophet saws.

Clearly the above is not from these sources hence it cant be used as a fundamental argument that Islam is the true religion. There are already many arguments presented in Quran itself as to why Islam is the true religion, that is sufficient.

  1. Quran is the only divine scripture which is still unchanged and there has been no scientific claims which goes against the verses of Quran.

Though the first part of the sentence is correct and even Quran mentions this fact that had Quran not been from Allah then it would have many contradictions.

However scientific claims may or may not go against it. As a Muslim we are supposed to believe in Quran, however we are not obligated to believe in all scientific claims and definitely not those claims which contradict the Quran.

Muslims should not behave like apologists by trying to interpret Quran to suit the current scientific claims, because many times even these claims have been refuted later on by new discoveries and innovations.
