Why Did Allah Choose Muhammad
:::note[Description]
Question:
Why did Allah choose Muhammad, and not someone else, as His final messenger? - An exploration of Islamic belief that Muhammad was divinely chosen as the final messenger, and why not someone else. :::
Answer:
Even before prophet muhammad saws was given the prophethood at the age of 40 he was respected by one and all and was called Ameen (trustworthy person), he was called to settle disputes and people used to respect his decisions, he never participated in lewd or vulgar acts even when he was young which was the norm in those days.
Even when he was injured by his religious opponents he still prayed to god for them and even when he was victorious he pardoned those people who had tortured him and his followers and had made his life miserable for many years.
He was harmed and abused when he invited and called people to Islam; yet he was patient and endured all of this, and hoped for the reward of God. Abdullah b. Masood said:
“The Prophet (pbuh) resembled a prophet who was harmed by his people. He wiped the blood from his face and said: ‘O God! Forgive my people, for they know not!” (Bukhari #3290)
Anas b. Malik served the Prophet (pbuh) for ten years; He was with him day in and day out, both when the Prophet (pbuh) traveled and when he was a resident in Madeenah. He was knowledgeable of the Prophet’s manners. He said:
“The Prophet (pbuh) did not swear at anyone, nor was he rude, nor did he curse anyone. If he desired to reprimand someone, he would say: ‘What is wrong with him, may dust be cast in his face!” (Bukhari #5684)
So we can have an entire book written down if we start enlisting his qualities and provide the proofs for the same.
Quran mentions “Verily, You (Muhammad) are on an exalted standard on character.” (68:4)
Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) described him as, “His character was just (a reflection of) the Quran.” (Muslim, Abu Dawood, Ahmad).
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Allah has sent me to perfect good manners and to do good deeds.” (Bukhari & Ahmed)
So not only was prophet saws of noble character he also commanded muslims to strive to become good character-ed:
Abu Dawud narrated: Aisha said, “the Prophet advised his Ummah that by means of good character - they could attain and go beyond people who spend their nights praying and their days fasting.”
Mu’aadh ibn Jabal was going to be sent as a Governor of Yemen by the Messenger of Allah. He said; when I placed my foot into the stirrup of the horse, the last piece of advice the Messenger of Allah gave me was;
“Ya Mu’adh ahsin khuluqaka lin-Naas - O Mu’adh, perfect your character when dealing with the people.”
A’ishah said that the Prophet of God (pbuh) used to pray during the night until his feet would swell. She said, ‘Why do you do this, O Messenger of God, while God has forgiven your past and future sins?’ The Prophet (pbuh) replied:
“Shall I not be a grateful slave (of God)?” (Bukhari #4557)
So based upon the above examples we find that he was a person of great and noble character and this must ha e been one of the principal criterias for choosing him as messenger.
Now there are some people who want to question the legacy of prophet Muhammad saws and at their disposal is history from unreliable sources long discarded by the scholars, half truths, insinuations and plain lies.
They will never refer to the hundreds of examples from authentic sources which show his noble character but they will hold on to the one unverified or unauthentic historical references for their life and keep on quoting from them thinking that speaking lies 100 times will make it the truth. Their attempt at shoot and scoot will not work….if they try to spit at the sky it will return back to them.
One of the so called freethinkers who actually is a BIASED THINKER mentioned “….man who raided caravans — killing those who got in his way — for camels, booty and hostages …”
So in one sentence he has made 3 different allegations:
-
Raiding caravans (hinting that they were innocents)
-
Killing those who got in the way hinting that innocents were killed indiscriminately
-
Claiming all this was done for money/war booty
However the truth is that Muslims were persecuted, oppressed, tortured and forced to leave makkah and also their entire wealth, belongings & their flourishing trade and their source of livelihood so muslims got back at these people when they got the opportunity to try to get back from the oppressors what lawfully belonged to them. Now when US freezes the assets of terrorists - do these free(biased)thinkers complain ??
If muslim scholars & intellectuals say that killing innocents is not allowed in islam they free(biased)thinkers will be the first ones to question this conclusion by quoting verses out of context and accepting and putting forward the same twisted interpretation of Islam which only the terrorists provide.
So is the case even in this example, here muslims were the oppressed and they were fighting against much more powerful adversary however the above question made regarding caravan raids makes the implicit assumption that muslims are terrorizing the non-muslims lead by prophet saws - whereas the situation is exactly the opposite.
So all such claims will always be HOLLOW and these islamophobes cant prove even 1 example which goes against the character and dignity of a prophet. In fact they have never read 1 book on prophets biography from start to finish - all they have read is a few paragraphs or articles form anti islamic website (which quotes heavily from unauthentic and unreliable sources) - based upon which their entire opinion is based and then they want muslims to start doubting their religion just because they can throw some half baked lies copy pasted from anti islamic sites. However their confidence is amazing, only a fool ca have such confidence while being on such flimsy ground.
