Is the Quran a Miracle Because Muhammad Was Illiterate

Answer:

  1. Prophet Muhammad saws did not make the Quran and neither he claimed to do so.

  2. Quran is the word of Allah and was revealed to prophet saws through arch angel gibreel alaihessalam in parts and he used to memorize the revelation

  3. Subsequently, It was then recited by the prophet saws and then written down and memorized by the companions of the prophet saws

  4. For the sake of argument even if you want to believe that either he or his friends/family members knew how to write and were literate - this is not sufficient argument to disapprove that Quran is a miracle and is the word of Allah.

This is Because all the literate and learned people combined over the last 1400+ years haven’t been able to produce even 1 verse comparable to the noble Quran and there is a challenge mentioned in Quran itself which is mentioned as below:

For example it is mentioned in the Quran:

“Say: ‘If all mankind and the jinn would come together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce its like even though they exerted all and their strength in aiding one another.’” (Quran 17:88)

“Or do they say that he has invented it? Say (to them), ‘Bring ten invented chapters like it, and call (for help) on whomever you can besides God, if you are truthful.” (Quran 11:13)

“And if you all are in doubt about what I have revealed to My servant, bring a single chapter like it, and call your witnesses besides God if you are truthful.” (Quran 2:23)

So this challenge is applicable till the day of judgement for all including yourself - if you feel that Quran is not the word of Allah then take up the challenge and prove it wrong.
