Humanity comes from religion, and the criterion for right and wrong comes from religion as well. Hence just because some people are inclined to do something doesn’t make it right. In fact most people would like to do things which are wrong however they don’t do so due to the boundation of law and order, fear of god, family, society etc.

If something was wrong a few years back and suddenly there are rules which make it right, then it shows that the moral values for some are changing with time, so religion cant be judged by those whose moral values are changing with time, and neither can religion change with time as the moral values and teachings prescribed by religion is irrespective of time and geographical location.

There is nothing modern about same sex marriage as it was practiced by the people of lut thousands of years ago and also finds mention in the Quran.

And this act of theirs was referred to as lewd, vulgar, despicable & one of the worst sins due to which they incurred wrath of God and were destroyed as finds mention in the following verses:

And (remember) Lout (Lot), when he said to his people: “Do you commit the worst sin such as none preceding you has committed in the ‘Alamîn (mankind and jinns)? (Al-A’raf 7:80)

“Verily, you practise your lusts on men instead of women. Nay, but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds (by committing great sins).” (Al-A’raf 7:81)

And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). Then see what was the end of the Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). (Al-A’raf 7:84)
