Do Indian Muslims Refuse to Sing Vande Mataram
:::note[Description]
Question:
Do Indian Muslims refuse to sing ‘Vande Mataram’? - A look into the debate over Muslims and the Indian national song Vande Mataram, including theological and political perspectives. :::
Answer:
“Vande Mataram” means “Mother I bow down before you!” - Muslims can only bow down before the creator, hence they can’t give the place of creator to the created.
I think Muslims are asked this question time and again because the underlying assumption is that Muslims are intolerant.
However I have never seen a Muslim insisting on other people not to sing vande mataram as it goes against Islam. I think this is nothing but “tokenism”.
Lastly it is very clear that those politicians who have started this controversy in the first place their intention is mischievous ie. to polarize the people to divide and rule;
There is no genuine concern about the nation here - 35-40 percent of politicians in major parties in India have serious criminal charges against them.
Patriotism is judged by action of a person not by mere words. I think the more this issue is stretched the more it is going to harm the nation.
