Islamic Democracy is an Oxymoron.

Democracy is government of the people by the people and for the people and hence, Democracy calls for ‘sovereignty of people’ while Islam calls for ‘sovereignty of Allah’.

Allaah the Most High said: “And whosoever does not judge by what Allâh has revealed, such are the Kâfirûn” (5:44), and He the Most High said, “And whosoever does not judge by that which Allâh has revealed, such are the Zâlimûn” (5:45) and He the Most High said, “And whosoever does not judge by what Allâh has revealed (then) such (people) are the Fâsiqûn” (5:47).

So in a democracy something prohibited in Islam can be made halaal and vice verca based upon the opinion of majority - like veil ban in France and Alcohol, Homosexuality etc being allowed in most democratic nations.

In democracy an illiterate person and a person who is educated are equal i.e 1 vote; as per Islam person who has knowledge and is righteous is having more value.
